Sustainability at Little Linney
At Little Linney, sustainability is not a trend or marketing idea - it’s simply part of how we choose to live. We believe in creating a space that feels thoughtful, natural and connected to the environment around it.
From wildlife-friendly gardening and repurposed furnishings to low-tox living and supporting local produce, many of the choices within the cottage reflect a slower and more intentional way of life.
Our aim is not perfection, but to create a peaceful retreat that treads a little more lightly on the land.

A Thoughtfully Restored Space
Little Linney has been carefully restored using a mixture of reclaimed, repurposed and handmade pieces wherever possible.
Throughout the cottage you’ll find vintage furniture, restored materials and objects collected over time, helping to create a space with warmth, character and less unnecessary waste.
We’ve tried to avoid a throwaway approach to interiors and instead focus on simplicity, longevity and thoughtful design.

Wildlife-Friendly Gardening
The garden has been created with wildlife in mind, with pollinator-friendly planting, seasonal flowers and spaces where nature is encouraged to thrive.
Birdsong, bees and butterflies are part of everyday life here, and we continue to develop the garden in ways that support biodiversity and the natural environment.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the peaceful outdoor spaces and experience the slower rhythm of the countryside.

Low-Tox & Natural Living
Where possible, we choose natural and lower-tox products throughout the cottage, from cleaning products to simple everyday choices that support a healthier environment indoors.
Fresh air, natural materials and a calm uncluttered space are all part of the atmosphere we hope guests will experience during their stay.
Small intentional changes can make a big difference to how a space feels.

Supporting Local & Seasonal
We love supporting local businesses, independent makers and seasonal produce wherever possible.
Hartland and the surrounding area are home to farm shops, local cafés, artists, craftspeople and small independent businesses that help make this part of North Devon feel unique and connected.
By shopping locally and choosing slower, more thoughtful options, we hope to contribute positively to the community around us.

A Simpler Way to Slow Down
For us, sustainability is also about pace of life.
It’s about creating space to rest, reconnect with nature and enjoy simple things - sea air, quiet mornings, home-cooked food, coastal walks and time away from constant noise and distraction.
Little Linney is designed to offer a calm and restorative environment where guests can properly unwind and experience the beauty of slower living.
